My best regards, J.H. – November 2012

Dear Cal and Richard and the staff of the Guilford House,

I write to thank you for the excellent care and warm support I received during my recent stay.  You made an experience that could have been trying into a wonderful week of rest and rejuvenation.  Your personal touches made me feel special as they do for all those in your care.  As for the staff, I have nothing but praise.  I didn’t note everyone’s name, but I would single out my nurse whose conversations always cheered me.  And the rehab team is excellent.  Karen does an amazing job with energy and good humor – and I was impressed by the professionalism and warmth of Theresa and Virginia.  And the food!  I do miss the delicious meals that tempted my appetite and made me feel well care for.  I wish you the best for the holidays and send my thanks for being such a strong part of my rehab.

My best regards,  J.H. – November 2012

Thank you, F & FW November 2012

Dear Cal & Pat,

My wife and I would appreciate it if you would accept our thank you for the wonderful care provided after her reverse total shoulder surgery. Thank you of the leadership and the management shown at The Guilford House. The replacement of the shoulder socket is, I’m told, the most complicated of all joint replacements, so her stay at your facility was a significant test and all your departments passed with flying colors!

You have an outstanding caring organization and it starts at day one and all the people reflect this attitude.

They also strive for excellence. Two mainstays that should be mentioned are the nursing and assistants and the physical therapists. F’s recovery wouldn’t have been completed without their excellent efforts. I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention the kitchen staff from the dietitian, the chefs and servers. The food, the choices and the service match in every way the efforts of the nurses and therapists. Although you might think I didn’t notice Hurricane Sandy provides me the opportunity to congratulate the maintenance crew. While much of Guilford was without power, your generator kept the lights and heat on. So while they might not get much note, when times are so difficult, their efforts deserve a thank you too.

Please be assured that if we either need rehab care, we’ll be there. I’ve mentioned the outstanding efforts your team provided to friends, relatives and those here at The Gables. Also, please share these thoughts with your team. Knowing their efforts are noted and appreciated would be great.

Thank you, F & FW November 2012

Dear Workers at The Guilford House:

Because of all of you the Guilford House is an unbelievable, incredible place.  Starting at the top, the owners are on site daily and get to know all the patients by name and condition.  I think if they were asked, they would stand on their heads to make a patient happy.  Once when I wasn’t able to eat the wonderful meals provided, Cal asked what I might like to try.  I said “Maybe a poached egg”.  He went down to the kitchen right then to cook it.  Another time, I saw some root beer and mentioned it brought back memories of childhood.  A short time later Cal arrived with a root beer-float for me. The nurses were pleasant, sympathetic, efficient and knowledgeable.  The nurses’ aids, who have the constant care of the patients, were dedicated.  If anyone gets to Heaven it will be they.

One night when I was in terrible pain, I actually prayed that Eileen would be my nurse.  I loved so many of them but can’t remember all their names.  There was “Precious” the girl with the beautiful hair, the girl with four children, Lynn, and all who helped me.  They are God’s angels for sure.  The cooks are outstanding.  The gourmet meals – and such a choice was works of art, not only delicious but artfully presented.  Bernadette, the hairdresser manipulated several wheel chairs in her small room, and magically beautifully fixed everyone’s hair.  The housekeeping crew kept the place spotless.  One lady who worked in my room daily, I called Patty Sunshine not Merry Sunshine, because she brightened the room with her happy disposition. The Therapy room was spacious with a nice view of the court yard.  My therapists, Teresa, Gayle and Ginny were outstanding!  Thank you all so very much. I’ll be back to see you when I get better.

Sincerely, FR – March 2012

To the Entire Staff at The Guilford House:

My husband and I would like to thank you for the wonderful care I received at The Guilford House after my bilateral total knee replacements.  The quality of care I received was outstanding and the rehab experience was wonderful.  As a retired nurse, I know how “nursing homes” can be and your attention to excellent patient care was above and beyond the norm.  From daily visits from Cal and Richard, to our cozy dinner table for 2 in my room to my after-dinner ice cream re-quests – I appreciated every one of the little “Specialties).

I have told my doctors and my friends of your wonderful facility.  I am happy to report that I am walking very well with a cane and have started out patient PT and progressing ahead of schedule.  Again, a sincere thank you of all your care.

Dear Cal (and all staff!)

We can’t thank you all enough for the wonderful, warm care that you have given my Mom over the last couple of months! It really has been a home away from home with excellent food and outstanding care-giving – from the RN’s, aides, physical therapists, housekeeping, kitchen help and all the professional staff. We’ll miss all of your smiling faces and Mom hopes to come walking back in for one of your summer cook outs. Thanks again for providing top notch care in such a lovely well run facility!

Dear Pat & Cal,

Thank you both for your caring and concerns while I was at Guilford House.  It made me feel special.  I also want to mention three others on your staff who went out of their way to help me more than once.  Deborah Lynde – gentle and kind; extra visits just to see how I was doing; good humor and Diane Wilson – besides her gentleness was assertive in getting my leg looked at…and Eileen W – gentle, patient and went to lengths to find whatever I needed.

Gratefully, MD

PS:  Dave the Chef was always trying to please.

See you soon (as a visitor) S.W.

To Cal, Pat & Brian,

Thank you very much for everything you have done for me in the three months that I have been here.  You made my stay here like home. and it really helped me get through my recovery.  It has been a long road for me and I can’t believe it has come to an end.  Your facility is one of the nicest, cleanest and well run facilities I have ever seen.  As owners you should be very proud of what you have put together here at The Guilford House.  The staff was great, food was great, and overall words can’t explain how thankful I am for my stay here.  Take care.

See you soon (as a visitor)  S.W.

Fondly, JG

Dear Staff,

Thank you so much for your kindness and attentive care during my stay at Guilford House.   I appreciated the clean room, comfortable bed, warm shower and delicious food.  Everyone’s warm smile and generous spirit helped tremendously in my rehab.  My family appreciated the warm welcome and fabulous meals.

Fondly, JG

Thanks again, WK

Hi Cal,

Here it is my last evening at the Guilford House.  I have mixed feelings…  You have done an outstanding job of putting customer service into health care, and this is not the norm.  Everyone pitched in and helped me regardless of their primary role.  This includes Bob, who has facility responsibility, but regularly checked in to see how things were going or to remove a food tray.  It didn’t matter, he was happy to do it.  Same with Dave, who put together the best menu and dishes imaginable.

Please convey to your entire staff how appreciative I am for their care and responsiveness.  They make a real difference in the lives of everyone who is there recuperating from an injury…  They enabled me to make the best of an unfortunate accident and helped make the time fly by.  I literally had to look at the calendar to see how long I had actually been here.

Thanks again, WK
